Theologens, writers, poets and musicians have used the wilderness as a metafor to represent everything from a vast and dangerous environment – to a refuge of nature and beauty .
Brené Brown – Braving the Wilderness
Belonging so fully to yourself that you’re willing to stand alone is a wilderness – an untamed, unpredictable place of solititude and searching. – The bravest and most sacred place you will ever stand!
Welcome to Potter In The Wild! A place where I love to share recipes, pottery tips and pearls of wisdom, that I encounter as I go through life!

As a potter, living in the age of mass production, I believe that something handmade can enrich everyday objects with purpose and beauty. They often have a story behind them, a purpose, and inspiration for their existence.
My own health journey has led me to understand that a home-cooked meal, is both good for the body and the soul. As is gathering around the table to share a meal and conversation. Being Irish, having a good chat is in my blood! It’s said that we have the gift of the gab – I don’t know if it’s true, though I do love a good natter!

A little about me..
-I was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland.
-I’m passionate about home cooking, and more often than not, there is a jar of something fermenting on my countertop.
-My favorite food? Without a doubt, soup! It can be sophisticated and delicate or down-to-earth and comforting. There is a soup for every occasion and every budget, and it’s the ultimate fast food! A pot of soup and a loaf of bread is also a wonderful meal to share with anyone! The embroidery below sits on the wall of a friend’s house, a perfect reminder that hosting doesn’t need to be prestigious or ‘perfect.’

“Five were invited,
ten show up,
add water to the soup,
everyone is welcome!”
-I have lived for most of my adult life in southern Sweden, where I am raising a family with my Swedish husband of 17 years.
– At some stage in my life, I realized that poor diet and lifestyle were taking a toll on my health, and as our children came along, I finally learned how to nourish my body. Home cooking, with nutritionally packed, minimally processed foods, has been key to rebuilding my strength! I look forward to sharing some of my favorite recipes with you!
-I’ve always dreamt of living on a farm where the laughter of children is entwined with the cackle of hens. Where the kettle is always on, ready for friends and neighbors to pop by.
– I’ve been an animal welfare advocate my whole life and have been a vegetarian and vegan for 22 years. My decision to eat meat again was difficult and emotionally challenging. We source our meat from small, local, and organic farms, and one day, we hope to raise our own. We cook a lot of vegetarian and vegan food, too, so you will find plenty of great recipes on my site!
-In 2019 I discovered the world of pottery and have been hooked since! I’ve built a little studio in my basement where I can be found in the early hours of the morning, working on a thousand projects all at once in joyful chaos.

My relationship with clay has not been unlike my relationship with sourdough. Complex, infuriating, and yet beautiful! I have finally learned to accept failure as part of the creative process as well as part of life.
Our family has grown to include five beautiful children, a wild Irish setter, two cats, four rats, and 7 fish.. and my love of pottery is as relevant as ever to my sanity.
The path to ourselves cuts right through the wilderness…
